Hot Tips On How To Job Hunt
Learn How And Where To Look For Jobs
Before you start hunting for a job that you think might suit you, you need to learn how to effectively and successfully market your skills and talents. This should help you evaluate the possibility of getting the job of your dreams. Get a pen and paper, write down what you feel your capabilities and limitations are. Some jobs are very demanding, they demand a lot of one’s time and energy (such jobs are not meant for people that have a lot of social commitment). There are some jobs that you might be over qualified to take up, having your list enables you to easily identify where you can fit in properly.
The very first thing that needs to be done when looking for a job is to prepare an impressive resume. The resume will depend on the type of job being applied for, Some employers require curriculum vitae and even a cover letter or letter of intent along with your application, every employer expects to receive a well written resume from you. After preparing the documents needed for application, the next thing that should follow is finding job vacancies, job searching using the Internet will be very helpful for this activity.
Where else can I look for job openings?
Some companies and other employers do not really advertise any job openings in their organization. The best thing for an applicant is to weigh things if it will be possible to be hired by a certain company by just submitting an application form or resume. Don’t leave your job search efforts to others, start looking for the job personally, tell everyone you know about your job search. Relatives and previous offices or company co-workers will be able to give hints on job vacancies in their current companies. These people might not have any vacant position in their company in mind but they may know someone who knows or needs a new employee.
After submitting application forms and resumes to the respective companies, keep track of the progress by creating a chart where you can jot down the name of the company and when the application was submitted.
Rule of Thumb
Sometimes we come across some classified ads in the news papers and because it is does not carry the name of a big company we tend to ignore them, this my friends could turnout to be a mistake. Sometime ago a big player in the telecommunications industry placed a classified ad in one of the Nigerian news papers, they concealed their true identity, very few people applied hence few people were called for the interview. The lesson is to never ignore those ads that look like they are from small companies.
